North Manchester General Hospital doctor couple win £80k funding from Innovate UK

Manchester’s digital health company, Rathin Med has secured £80,000 of funding from Innovate UK for SMASH, a product of Innovosens AB .

Rathin Med is working on regulatory approvals and marketing SMASH, an AI powered multi-metabolite wearable sweat sensor that picks up glucose and lactate.

Rathin Med secured funding from Innovate UK, after winning Eureka Eurostar competition in collaboration with Swedish company Innovosens.

Founder Dr. Manoj Kumar, said: “As a Project Lead I feel this is a crucial step in our company’s journey towards bringing an inventive prototype to the NHS”.

“We are very pleased that Innovate UK has acknowledged our efforts and this revolutionary technology ”

He added: “He is ecstatic that he also secured a place in the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Program (NHS CEP) this year”.

NHS CEP is a part of Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) delivered by Anglia Ruskin University. This programme provides learning, that supports NHS professionals with entrepreneurial thinking and Innovation.

Co-founder Dr. Vishalini Venkatachalam commented: “Our dedicated partners and subcontractors are very committed to deploying SMASH device. Moving forward, we foresee to deliver more innovative projects”.

Rathin Med is aiming to pilot the SMASH device in Greater Manchester hospitals and intending to work towards NHS Long Term Plan.
